BIOGRAPHY:
Símon H. Ívarsson born 1951 in Reykjavík, started to study classical guitar
19 years old in 1970 with Gunnar H. Jónsson at the Conservatory in Reykjavík.
In 1973 he also started to study guitar teaching and soon became his teachers assistent at the Conservatory.
After his final exams in 1975 he went to Vienna to do advanced studies at the Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst with Prof. Karl Scheit. He graduated from there with honour in 1980. Simon has taken part in courses by H. Tomas, M. Barrueco and D. Russel He was a teacher for classical guitar at Luzern Conservatory in Switzerland in 1981-1982.
Símon Ívarsson started to make his public appearances in 1974 and has made many recordings for radio and TV in Iceland. He has also played on both LP and CD. During several summers he held workshops for classical guitar. He has held many recitals in Iceland and has performed concerts in many European countries.
