The Fairest Church in
Iceland
The Chapel at Núpsstaður
Or is it the chapel at Núpsstaður,
Iceland's smallest church,
built in 1657 while the
Hymns of the Passion were in creation?
Where a lamb grazes on the roof,
where the traveller's coins lying on
the altar remind us of the
silver coins the disciple received.
We have not crucified Christ
But don't we rather too often
Shrink from our duties of love
And even forget
What Judas remembered:
To repent?
